Join us for an Artist Talk with Terence Nott, Marija Patterson and Bernadette Pilli as they share the ideas and stories behind their current exhibitions.

Together, they will discuss their practices and explore themes of place, memory, change and departure — from Melbourne’s changing urban landscape to personal journeys of leaving, returning and remembering.

Come along to hear directly from the artists and discover more about the works on view.

From 2–3pm, Anthony Vouliotis and Samantha Levy (Ymma Tierra) will set the mood with a live mix of original music, smooth jazz and pop covers before the Artist Talk begins.

Terence Nott(G1)

Terence “Terry” Nott grew up in Rochester, northern Victoria, where he was encouraged to draw from an early age. With a love of drawing and rural buildings, Terence enrolled and studied Architecture at Melbourne University and graduated in 1970. After living and travelling in Europe in the 70’s he ended up residing in North Fitzroy at a time when the area was just starting to change from a traditional working class suburb with a European influence to a more “so called” liveable and gentrified model. These changes have influenced the subjects of his artwork. Whilst practising architecture he has pursued his drawing and painting, including during his travels in Australia, Europe and Asia. His drawing style has been influenced by his background in architectural illustration and, through his drawings, he has contributed to magazines and books. This is his first solo exhibition.

Live Music Before the Artist Talk

Anthony Vouliotis is a Melbourne-based musician exploring the intersection of improvised music, ancestry and storytelling. Drawing on a foundation in classical music with a modern, jazz-influenced approach, Anthony brings together musical traditions with contemporary expression.

Samantha Levy (Ymma Tierra) draws her name from Hebrew (אמא, mother) and Spanish (Tierra, earth), reflecting the rich ancestral lineages that shape her story and life. Her mission is to weave a "three-strand cord" between ancestral memory, cultural heritage and the modern world.

Together, Anthony and Samantha will perform a one-hour set featuring original music alongside a selection of smooth jazz and pop covers - a warm and soulful offering to whet your artistic appetite!
