In these painted works, natural forms are abstracted into a series of basic units — lines and strokes — from which are built complex layers of colour, depth, and movement. Mostly inspired by the fractals of the natural world, for example, water, leaf patterns, the microscopic, and so on, the works move away from the literal representation of nature to deconstructed images using repetition of marks to create moving surfaces of colour, which allude to energy fields, wave systems, and other possible patterns.
