Artist Statement
The repetition and rhythm inherent in Moon’s mark-making reflect a deep commitment to mindfulness and her affinity with nature. Each piece functions as a site of inquiry; a portal, a prayer, and an invocation of the most authentic self. Central to the practice is the use of intricate lines as a meditative tool and fluid paint pouring as a method of embodied expression. These techniques serve as gateways into somatic awareness, allowing the body’s movement and intuition to guide the work.
Interbeing is a Buddhist concept that reflects the interconnectedness and interdependence of everything. It means that nothing exists independently; rather, all existence is a shared experience with everything else. In Moon’s practice, Interbeing reflects the blend of multiple modalities for holistic wellness, highlighting how various elements come together to create a cohesive whole.
Movement is the cornerstone of Moon’s creative process, as it mimics transitional states in the natural world.
