This body of work explores the tension between remnants of destruction and the unseen radiance of spirit. It continues Leadbeater’s search for inner beauty and emotional resonance, where opposites aren’t resolved but held in fragile balance.
Artist Biography
Visual artist Steve Leadbeater has been creating for more than 50 years and exhibiting since the early 90s. His work is held in collections worldwide and his prolific practice continues to inspire by defying the confines of a single style.
He works with wild brutality, like an intuitive child or a mysterious prehistoric culture. He's drawn to opposites — identity and anonymity, sensitivity and brutality, spirit and form. These tensions run through his work, not to be resolved, but to reveal what exists between them. Energy drives him — the pulse of life, the charge of sensation, the invisible forces that shape our lives.
At the heart of his practice lies a search for inner beauty. Something raw and resonant beneath the surface — whether physical, emotional or spiritual. His work invites reflection — not only on what is seen, but on what is felt, remembered and carried.
