With over 1.1 million artworks displayed, representing thousands of local, interstate and international artists, spanning our 20 year history, RED are thrilled to share this momentous occasion with our creative community. REDtrospective
RED Gallery are delighted to invite artists to join us for our grandest, boldest and most joyous exhibition to date; celebrating 20 years of innovation, resilience and boundary-shoving creativity we are offering an exciting art prize to artists at all stages in their careers working in all modalities, mediums, style and themes to join in the merriment and with an added opportunity to share in over $5,000 worth of prizes. Artwork can range from 2D to 3D. Each artist will be allocated 1 linear meter of wallspace with a maximum of 2 linear meters per artist or 1 plinth with a maximum of 2 plinths per artist. With the support of council and community this is an exhibition not to be missed.
All artworks entered will be displayed in our exciting REDtrospective end-of-year Christmas exhibition alongside artist talks with previous artists who have exhibited at RED, workshops and a twilight Christmas event with mulled wine, art by candlelight and music to bring the year to a close and to celebrate the 20 year legacy of RED in the community .

Artwork Drop-off Date: 12 December 2022
Opening Event: Friday 16 December 2022 6pm – 8pm
Twilight Art Event: Thursday 22 December 2022 7pm – 9pm
Spaces are limited, especially our plinth allocation so please book early.
All artwork will be displayed and entered into the art prize.
The winners will be announced on opening night
Exhibition Details

$110 per linear meter of wallspace (max. 2 linear meters)

Over $5,000 in prizes awarded, including:
First Prize: $1500 Cash Prize (non-acquisitive), selected by Henry Maas (Bachelors from Prague) Elle Rusch Drakos and Veronica Mullin. Solo exhibition at RED (valued at $1,800)
Second Prize: $500 Cash Prize (non-acquisitive)
Fitzroy Community Choice Award: $500 Cash Prize (non-acquisitive)

Henry Maas (Bachelors from Prague), Elle Rusch Drakos, Veronica MullinArtworks will be assessed by one or more of the following criteria:
1. Interpretation and the clarity of the theme to the viewer
2. Creativity and originality
3. Quality of artistic composition, technique and overall design
4. Overall impression of the art
The decision of the judges is final.

All artworks must fit within the linear meter purchased with roughly 10cm gap between artworks if more than one artwork will be displayed next to each other within the linear meter. No double-hanging unless pre-approved by the curators.
Artwork must be original, and not infringe on copyright.
All artwork must be delivered ready to hang. RED Gallery’s curators will curate and display the artworks, they will be hung according to the creative discretion of the Gallery.
Gallery commission on all artwork sales of 15% which includes GST
Artists must be over 18 years old.
The Gallery will have Public Liability Insurance but suggests all artists take personal insurance on all artworks that are sold on consignment.
Entry fees are non-refundable -
Delivering in person: Artwork must arrive on the 12 December 2022 between 9am – 2pm only.
Delivering by post/courier: Artwork must arrive by 2pm on 12 December 2022.
Artwork must be delivered by these dates and times as we have a very tight turn-around for catalogue printing. If the artwork is not delivered on time it will not be included in the exhibition.
Delivery costs are at the expense of the artist. All artwork must arrive at the gallery ready to hang.
The gallery cannot keep any packaging, due to limited storage space, all materials and all packaging will be disposed of or reused.
The artist's name AND title of the work as well as price MUST be written on the back of the work on a label itself for clear identification.
All artwork must include a colour photo and retail price which needs to be uploaded onto the online database which will be available from the 20 November 2022. Deadline for artwork to be uploaded online is 5 December 2022. Item description -
Artist/courier collection in person: Unsold works MUST be collected from RED Gallery between 4pm-6pm. 23 December 2022 unless by prior arrangement for a later date.
Interstate and remote artists: Unsold works can be posted back to artists via courier at the artists expense.
Sale of artworks:
15% commission on artwork sales applies.Artist Settlements are prepared and finalised up to 30 days after exhibition’s end. -
While we take the utmost care of artwork, following industry best practice, RED Gallery takes no responsibility for theft, loss or damage of artwork. It is advised that concerned artists purchase their own insurance.
