Artist Statement
For many years, Jill Bond has been inspired by the vibrant colours and shifting light found in the landscapes where she has lived and worked. Bond’s painting practice is deeply rooted in a love for the natural world, especially the unique beauty of the Australian landscape. Influenced by the Impressionists, she strives to capture fleeting moments of light and atmosphere, whether in broad sweeping landscapes or in the quiet simplicity of still life.
Light and the way it plays with colour and shadow is a central theme in her work. Even in her still life paintings, she is drawn to the subtle ways light can shape mood and form. Bond is also constantly exploring new mediums and techniques, enjoying the process of discovery as she experiments with ways to combine materials and textures.
For Bond, painting is a way of connecting more deeply with the world around her, a way of seeing, feeling, and sharing the beauty that often goes unnoticed.
