Curator's Statement
Textiles celebrates the richness, innovation and diversity of contemporary textile practice while proudly featuring the work of Helen Henwood, one of the winners of the Red Art Prize 2026. Her thoughtful and accomplished practice provides a fitting centrepiece for this curated exhibition, which brings together artists working across textiles, fibre art, soft sculpture, weaving, embroidery, installation and experimental material practices.
Together, these artists reveal the remarkable versatility of textiles as a contemporary artistic medium, one that honours traditional techniques while continually evolving through new ideas, materials and processes. Through tactile surfaces, intricate craftsmanship and bold experimentation, Textiles invites audiences to experience the expressive potential of fibre-based art and discover the many ways artists transform familiar materials into compelling contemporary works.Textiles Exhibition features works by Helen Henwood (Winner, Red Art Prize 2026), Delara Rahim, Dianne Ellis, Isabel Deakin, Jill Miglietti, Moira Mai, Lis de Vries, Makenzie Rivers, Margot Warre, Monika Cvitanovic, Maddie Smith, Nicci Rossel, Ruby Stephens-Naughton, Ruby-Ngoc Nhu Nguyen, Samantha Lee Curran, Sarah Gordon, Sharon Peoples, Susie Summers, Vicky Cutler Faire, Wai-Han Lee and Tracy Potts.
