Artist Statement
Created for International Women’s Day, this body of work explores the quiet yet enduring strength of women — a strength that does not need to shout to be felt.
Crystal Wu’s paintings continue her language of bold gestures and emotional colour collisions. Pigment moves freely across the surface — fluid, instinctive, and alive — echoing inner landscapes of memory, resilience, and transformation.
In this exhibition, the works extend beyond the canvas.
Selected paintings are translated onto luminous silk scarves — soft, intimate, and close to the body — while others are framed in industrial steel. The contrast is intentional: silk carries delicacy and touch; steel holds weight, structure, and resistance. Displayed together, they create a dialogue between vulnerability and protection, movement and stability, softness and force.
For Crystal, this coexistence reflects the nature of feminine power — flexible yet unbreakable, gentle yet enduring. Softness is not weakness. It is a different form of strength.
