ARTIST  STATEMENT

Olga Lierre was born during the collapse of the USSR, raised in Russia, and studied architecture and art in Moscow, France, and the Czech Republic. Following her studies, years of travelling and working as a tattoo artist across Europe shaped her understanding of image-making as a ritual practice. This experience continues to inform her painting, where images function as personal anchors — markers of identity, transition, and presence.

Working with figurative and abstract elements, symmetry, and symbolic geometry, she creates visual fields intended to be encountered intuitively and experienced on a deeply personal level. Her engagement with psychoanalytic thought has further shaped her understanding of how archetypal forms and unconscious forces influence inner experience.

Through painting, Olga explores how visual form can shift perception and emotional state beyond language or explanation. Her work centres on creating images that operate as spaces for inner alignment and transformation. Much of the body of work exhibited here was developed while living in Bali, where ritual and image are woven into everyday life.
