ARTIST  STATEMENT 

Pezzimenti is particularly known for her exploration of portraiture, colour, and the female form. As a first-generation Italian Australian woman, her cultural heritage profoundly informs her practice. Themes of identity, place, memory, and the impact of patriarchal structures are recurring threads throughout her work.

Through her paintings, Pezzimenti examines the complexities of the female experience, creating emotionally resonant works that invite reflection and connection. By balancing light and shadow—both visually and psychologically and drawing on a range of mediums to evoke particular moods and sensations, she reveals the layered inner worlds that shape human experience.

ARTIST  BIOGRAPHY

Francesca Pezzimenti is a Melbourne-based artist whose practice spans more than four decades. Throughout her career, she has continually experimented with a diverse range of materials and mediums, developing a distinctive visual language grounded in figurative painting. Her work has been recognised through numerous painting awards, exhibitions across Victoria, artist residencies in Australia and internationally, and commissions for original works.
