Mohamed Kadan | Dreaming of Lifta

$400.00

This work, titled Daydreaming of Lifta is drawing of an old wealthy village on the outskirts of Jerusalem which remains one of the very few abandoned villages in Palestine after the 1948 Nakba as most were razed to the ground or occupied. The drawing is drawn in an A5 landscape bound sketchbook, with the drawing unfolding over the two spreads with each spread being compositionally independent but still reading as part of a larger whole. The subject being the village is framed both metaphorically and visually, with fastidiously drawn botanicals of olive trees dominating the foreground and an ornately decorated picture frame acting as a border around the image of the village evoking a sense of a drawing within a drawing a drawing.
