ARTIST  STATEMENT

Safe Space is an ongoing exploration within Andrea’s practice that considers safety as something that can exist in many forms: a place, a presence, a state of awareness, a moment, or a memory. Rather than fixed, these spaces are understood as fluid, shifting and evolving over time, expanding and contracting as we move through life.

While experiences of safety may appear distinct, Andrea understands them as being formed through layers of shared longing, quiet intersections, and lived experiences that echo across time. In this way, individuals become reflections of one another, consciously or unconsciously coexisting within the same world and connected through shared emotional and experiential frameworks.

Andrea’s work examines how safety often emerges through subtle and profound overlaps between people, mental, emotional, and experiential intersections shaped by lived experience. It is within these points of convergence that empathy becomes the language through which safety comes to life, allowing recognition, understanding, and trust to form.

This sense of safety is directly reflected in how the works themselves move and evolve. Built through a slow, layered material process, the work forms intersections that are each unique while remaining part of a larger whole. Viewers are invited to engage expansively, taking in the work collectively or to focus inward, connecting with specific elements that resonate most strongly. In this way, the work mirrors the experience of safety itself: personal, relational, and continuously unfolding.

ARTIST  BIOGRAPHY

Andrea Guasch Rosado’s practice explores the shifting dynamics between material, process, and human experience. Guided by intuition, she approaches making as a dialogue between control and chance, allowing materials to shape both form and meaning. Through this exchange, her work reflects on connection, individuality, and the collective, inviting moments of introspection and an empathetic encounter with the self.

Working primarily across drawing and mixed media, Guasch Rosado develops layered works that evolve through sustained engagement with material and process. Her practice values attentiveness and openness, allowing meaning to emerge gradually rather than toward a fixed outcome. This approach reflects her ongoing interest in how experiences are formed, shared, and held within collective spaces.

Her work seeks to create quiet, contemplative environments within the gallery, offering viewers a space to pause, reflect, and engage with their own inner landscapes.
