ARTIST  STATEMENT

Kaleidoscope: Mapping Wonder explores a way of seeing shaped by attentive presence and childlike curiosity, where Lalita Saripalle treats the mind as a kaleidoscope — a shifting field in which fragments of perception, memory, and imagination continually rearrange themselves. From this kaleidoscopic awareness emerge layered abstract paintings composed of micro-landscapes and flowing lines that resemble geological maps, forming immersive ecosystems of sense-perception that reveal subtle relationships and interconnectedness. Shaped by her experience of migration and her background in music, the works inhabit a “third place” where perception, memory, and imagination converge, inviting viewers to slow down and rediscover the wonder of seeing.

ARTIST  BIOGRAPHY

Lalita Saripalle is a Melbourne-based abstract artist whose work explores perception, memory, and interconnectedness through layered visual landscapes. Born in India and having moved to Australia as a teenager, her practice reflects an ongoing interest in questions of belonging, observation, and the subtle relationships between inner experience and the natural world. Working across analogue and digital processes—including watercolour, acrylic pouring, suminagashi marbling, photography, digital painting, and collage—Saripalle creates immersive compositions where flowing lines and shifting forms evoke micro-landscapes and geological mappings. Alongside her studio practice, she works as a music teacher and art facilitator for children of all ages.
