Roger Moloney

Roger Moloney’s paintings offer a view of a surreal world which is strangely familiar. Sinking boats and burning structures ... strange formations that linger, ominously, hinting at impending crisis or doom.  These are elements of theatre which Moloney uses to create a taxleaux of visual drama.

Continuing a long held interested in anxiety and oppression,  Moloney has invented spaces which oscillate between dislocation and association, and evoke a sense of anticipation.  The paintings are colourful yet foreboding.

Roger Moloney is a Melbourne based artist who has followed a consistent visual language for the past twenty years. Several years in the making, this exhibition will be Roger Moloney’s first solo show since 1997.
