about the artist

 

nora sumberg was born in bairnsdale victoria. she studied fine art at caulfield institute of technology (now monash university) with majors in painting and photography. nora has been the recipient of numerous grants and prizes from the australia  council including studio’s and post graduate studies in italy (besozzo studio) and new york (peter brown memorial scholarship to the new york studio school). other residencies include bundanon (the arthur and yvonne boyd program for the arts) in 2001 and the tower studio (victorian trades hall council) 2002/3.  2004-05 saw nora as artist in residence at st. vincent's health in melbourne.  nora has just been awarded a residency with redgate international artists program in china. 

 

nora’s paintings are represented in many public and private collections.
