Erin Dixon Delicate, smooth, round ceramic vessels that suspend precariously between wooden and metal robust pillars or cubes. A dialogue created between the differences of material in Erin Dixon’s work is reflective of her ideas around the status of materials and how these ideas and boundaries can be changed or perceived in a new way. The volatile nature of this theme is investigated through balance, tension and placement of these objects.
Connecting the Dots We can never know the future and yet we move forward through the world guided by something more than our five senses. This exhibition explores the ideas that whilst in every moment we make choices when we look back we can “see how the dots connect” a desire to present what has already been forgotten. Join Liong uses of woven texts or altered information is a response to the idea that where social media and information is telling us what to think and how to be, we often miss the most important things.
Life bombards us with information, how we process this and what is real to us is selective. In order to understand the world around us we mentally categorize information to process it. In these works Hao is conscious that the way in which he processes information is unique and heightened. He uses painting (an end product) with drawing (a translation of raw information) and creates a response to information that is "thrust upon him". As he perceives it, “everything is and wants to be together because the idea of being isolated is terrifying”. |
